MOON FROST

MOON FROST

Indian Inks and acrylics on canvas with contemporary frame 61x72cm

One of my favourite walks it up the steps in Montmartre towards the Sacre-Coeur Basilica that look out over Paris.

The frost resistant travertine stone of the Basilica shines while constantly exudes calcite which ensures the Sacre Coeur remains white through weather and pollution - extraordinary really.

So image you are walking up the steps in moonlight, surrounded by the allure of the white church and bumping into the spirits of all the artists that worked there - Monet, Dali, Modigliani, Mondrian, Picasso, Van Gogh and Toulouse-Lautrec.

===========================================

Before my bed there is bright moonlight
So that it seems like hoare-frost on the ground:
Lifting my head I watch the bright moon,
Lowering my head I dream that I'm home.

(A poem by Li Bai , translated by Arthur Cooper 1973)
